Roche
(Roache, Roach) |
Obviously, this is my primary area of
research, but the one that has proved to be the most challenging, originally
from Co Waterford, my great grandfather, James Roche came to Dublin via Cork in search of
work. In this he succeeded, a miller by trade he initially worked in the Templeogue Mill in what was then the Dublin countryside. In later years he
and his family moved to the Inchicore / Kilmainham area of Dublin where his sons
worked in the railway works of Inchicore.

We hope that this page will serve as a resource for people researching any of the above names. By clicking on any of the links above you will be able to view some of the material that I have gathered to date relating to that particular name or location. Note that for the next couple of weeks these links will be activated one by one, so if they are not 'live' at present, come back soon for more information. Some of the data refers directly to my own fore bearers or those of my wife Mary. Others are just information on the names that I have collected along the way in the hope that they might be of value to others.
We would be delighted to hear from others interested in any of the names above or in genealogy and local history in general. To mail us see below.
Where databases are given as abstracted from archival material it must be stressed that these are unverified and offered as are, without any guarantee as to their accuracy.
I am very happy to do 'lookups' in any of the archival material to which I have access. These are offered on a 'when time permits' basis. I can do lookups in the following
