Killeshandra, viewed from the Croghan River
Killeshandra is a rural village set in the middle of the unspoilt countryside of Co Cavan. Surrounded by green fields, forests, lakes and rivers it offers the visitor a relaxed and enjoyable break from the frantic rush of everyday city life.
The visitor to Killeshandra will discover that there is a wealth of things to do and see.
FISHING
Fishing on the shore of the Town Lake
Killeshandra is a paradise for the angler.
The town is situated among some of the best fishing rivers and lakes in
country.

Bream, roach, pike, eel and tench are plentiful in the numerous lakes and rivers.
Trout fishing is also available in a number of lakes.
For the last number of years the town has hosted the King of Clubs Championship.
There is a local angling club which provides advice and assistance to
visitors.
Bait, tackle and boats are available on request.
WATER SPORTS
The Town Lake, on the outskirts on the town, is an ideal venue for all sorts of water
sports. After purchasing 'The Strand', a half mile length of the lake shore, Killeshandra
Community Council proceded to develop it by building a ramp and pier.
All-Ireland Power Boat Championships, June 1997
Killeshandra Town Lake is now a venue for a round of the All-Ireland
Power Boat Championships.
This is usually held in conjunction with the local Festival held on the June bank holiday.
Water skiing and jet skiing are also very popular.
KILLYKEEN FOREST PARK
Killykeen Forest Park
Killeshandra is only 3 miles from the magnificent forest park at
Killykeen.
This is a wonderland of lakes, rivers and forests.
It is renowned for its beauty and its solitude.
Facilities at Killykeen include excellent fishing, nature trails and pony trekking.
SPORT and LEISURE
Killeshandra offers, within a twelve mile radius, numerous activities
for people to enjoy.
These include 9 and 18 hole golf courses, horse riding, swimming, boat hire etc.
Killeshandra is also a recognised centre of
traditional Irish music and dance.
