This was our pub on Doneraile's Main St., adjacent to the back entrance to Doneraile Court, (known locally as the 'Lord's Gate'). We sold it and retired in November 2003. (Photo by Maura O'Donnell.)
The pub had been in our family since 1885 and my father, Tom O'Donnell acquired it in 1918 and it has been called " Tomo's " ever since. Maura, our daughter, has spent some years working in the theatre, in a backstage capacity, but has returned to further education and is studying for a B.A. degree in Sociology and Psychology.Cathal qualified as a doctor in 1995 and completed a fellowship in General Surgery in 1998. He is now a Specialist Registrar in Emergency Medicine in Cork's University Hospital.Cathal was married in Oct. 2000 to Roisin Thompson from Midleton, who is a nurse, and they live in Cork quite near the hospitals where they both work In Oct. 2002 they presented us with our first grandchild, a boy, Charlie, and on 12th. Feb.2004 a daughter, to be named Kate, arrived and all are doing well.

That's enough about ourselves and the rest of this page will consist of pictures of various parts of Doneraile parish, mainly about its rich and varied history. I will be adding bits and pieces to this page now that I have the time to indulge myself.

This is for Gaye Walsh in Oregon who misses Doneraile. It's not the Main St, she requested but I'm sure she crossed this bridge many times.
