Gabrielle's Stories

From "A Solstice Story"

"Once in a land far away there was this rich, but miserly man named Criisus. And his heart was so hard that his servants begged the gods to intervene. They sent the Fates to separate the strands of his life, so that he might see himself more clearly.

Unfortunately Criisus didn't mend his ways, so the gods turned him into a spirit, doomed to walk the earth forever, as invisible to others as they were to him in life."

From "Prometheus"

Gabrielle told this story to wounded Iolaus, as Xena and Hercules went on to free the titan Prometheus.

"Let me tell you another story. Once a long, long time ago, all people had four legs and two heads. And then the gods threw down thunderbolts and split everyone into two. Each half then had two legs and one head, but the separation left both sides with a desperate yearning to be reunited, because they each shared the same soul. And ever since then all people spend their lives searching for the other half of their soul."

From "Is there a Doctor in the House?"

Gabrielle : "There was once this king, his name was Liberius and he was a brave warrior."

General Marman : "I'm beginning to like this story already."

Gabrielle : "He was so proud of his hunting skills that he decided to test them in a sacred forest of the great goddess Artimus. She was so angry with him that she turned him into a deer. Worst thing that could happen to a great hunter. That's what he thought, at first. But then he grew fond of the peaceful ways of the deer that he actually grew to love them. He still missed his friends and family, which made him sad. So Artimus took pity on him and turned him back into his human form."

General Marman : "What a nightmare for a warrior to live as a deer."

Gabrielle : "Actually, it was the best thing that could have ever happened to him. Ha became a better king after the experience, a much happier man because he had learned the true secret of life is to find peace in yourself and to share it with the world."

General Marman : "It's a pretty story, too bad it has nothing to do with... real life."

Gabrielle : "Life is only what you make of it."
