Robert Mapplethorpe composed a series of self portraits, this one with devil's horns protruding from his head. He peers into the lens of his Hasselblad camera, looking defiant. Mapplethorpe's self portraits chronicle his life, from the heady days of the 70s through his physical demise in the late 80s. He enjoyed exploring taboos. His life was at one with his work. And to many within the Christian Coalition in the States, Robert Mapplethorpe was the devil himself.
